Talented much?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FRIENDS! Yes that's right in just 2 days is Christmas, personally I view this holiday not only as a great time to spend with loved ones and being thankful, but also I celebrate the birth of my Lord Jesus Christ....even though dec. isn't his REAL day of birth....we shall save that for another blog lol. Recently I had an audition for Men's clothing line commercial, not sure if I got the part or not. Nevertheless I do enjoy film and the performing arts as a whole...Entertainment just has always been in my bones so to speak. I have had my fair share of acting, voice over works, On screen stills, extra rolls, and also making some Films. Actually in the process of directing and producing a short film that i will discuss when I am able. Being in this "business" since age 14, I have seen Many many actors, models, singers, artists, and Filmmakers come and go. Now with the directors/filmmakers I have come to the conclusion there are 4 types of filmmakers....this also applies to ANY and ALL persons in the entertainment industry and the ones who THINK they have what it takes.....Now I am not claiming to be any sort of A list celeb, but I think I have seen enough and worked enough to know the business to a decent extent...now back to filmmakers...
Like I mentioned above I've seen filmmakers come and go, and they always seem to fit into 4 categories.
                                                                                   CATEGORIES
#1. I've seen talented folks& filmmakers succeed with their first or second film and not know why. Many get arrogant fast. They get stupid. They're the one hit wonders.
#2. Then there are filmmakers who have the talent to create the art and the maturity to understand that making movies/films, entertainment is a business. They stay on top. They learn their crafts. They change what is needed within. They improve. They succeed. These folks are usually  the film making legends and giants.
#3. Next are the filmmakers who have 100% talent but zero work ethic. They are the lazy. They expect opportunity to fall in their lap as if they are entitled. Most, not all keep hanging with the same group of loser filmmakers, making worthless short films to be discovered on YouTube or at film festivals that no one's ever heard of and no distributor's acquisition executives will ever attend or get the chance to see.
This kind of "talent" usually" rejects any form of constructive criticism. You'll find them huddled together in online forums where they can pat each other on the back..basically the blind leading the blind - and snicker at any producer/director who has the nerve to ask them create a movie that must work within detailed parameters. (I've been on the producer end of that stick, and on the talent side and believe me, these people can get horribly vicious.
They want education for nothing and at seminars, acting classes, film workshops, etc. they're the ones who fold their arms and look down their arrogant little noses at professionals who try and teach them how to succeed. But they won't succeed.
Why?
Because these filmmaking/Talent, wannabes espouse the attitude of,
"They just don't understand my art."
"My films mean something."
"They're not realizing my skills."
"Look at me."
"I can't compromise the artistic integrity of my creation."
"Now why won't anyone give me money to make my movies?"
They reject professional criticism and instruction because then they would have to admit they have invested time and money in their own failure, admit they were wrong, and to proceed from that point would require change, and change would require...you got it...work.....HARD WORK!
It's laziness disguised as arrogance, or confidence without a cause. Converting raw filmmaking talent to pure filmmaking talent requires honing, focus, discipline, practice, balance, and education from both books and experience.
These filmmaking/so called talented wannabes, who assumed from the birth that it would be easy because the director's commentary on the DVD perhaps made it seem so, then return unmoved to their local circle of losers, trying to be the big fish in a tiny pond, hoping to become Independent Filmmaking's next "Success" story, all the while living their own "Emperor's New Clothes."
#4. Finally, you have the filmmaking wannabes who want no part of the typical loser's circle. This is good. They may have attended a 2 or 4 year film school hoping to gain the upper-hand, but graduate with a head full of theory and a pocket full of debt isn't the best start....
They hear the success stories of other filmmakers and become frustrated as they still wander in the darkness of ignorance. "What do they know that I don't?" "Was it just luck? It has to be."
They spend their days working for peanuts on film crews, waiting for a break. Or they start different careers altogether, keeping the dream flickering in the back of their mind, all the while saving money and searching for books, videos, something, someone, anything in the endless maze of online and offline resources that will finally put the puzzle together so it all makes sense and they can begin living their dream.
It is this filmmaker who is ready to learn. It is this filmmaker who is teachable. They are the next generation of filmmaking giants and legends...once the are finally able to put 2 and 2 together.
Are you a Filmmaker class 1, 2, 3, or 4? If you're a 2, then you're probably not reading this. Good for you!
If you're a 1 or a 3, I pray you graduate to a 4.
IMPORTANT: If you're a #4, please study, work hard and take advantage of legitimate online and offline resources. The Internet is flooded with #1's and #3's so be careful when searching filmmaking forums for answers. 1's and 3's question any information outside their own experience and are unwilling to try anything unless someone else they know does it first. They are ripe with skepticism, bitterness and write and speak with whining overtones. They blame circumstances and other people for their inability to "break into the business" and fail to admit it's their own negative mindset that keeps them from breaking out of their box.
And they're the very filmmakers that will be infuriated with this article. (That's right. I called you out. Let hate mail roll...)
Once you identify these people, disregard their comments and try not to engage in any creative projects with them.
Being positive and humble is harder than being negative and cocky. Stay strong my fellow #4's. There are inexpensive educational opportunities out there and soooo much MORE that can launch your filmmaking/entertainment career.
For all you other filmmakers/entertainers out there, attitude is everything. Keep yourself in check and self-evaluate often. A willingness to learn from other's successes and mistakes will put you on the right path to success.
Well that is all I got to say about this topic lol.....I know it is a bit dry but I feel well needed. Next week is My last Radio Show broadcast of 2013! WOW! This year has flew by. Soon My friends I will be starting a fundraiser for the sole purpose of a non-profit entertainment company/agency, That is Designed to help and assist ALL talented people from every aspect of the arts, the plan to help the artist(s)/Talent is to assist them in achieving their personal artistic goals while doing this service at NO cost to the Talents/Artists. You see Years back before I became my OWN agent/talent manager, I had an agent located in St.Louis,Mo at an Agency called Willemena<<spelled wrong i think lol....ANYWAY I was locked into a contract for quite awhile actually. There was a lot of stipulations in the contract that I did not really understand or read at the time, being so young and naive...The agent got paid before I ever did, she got 20% of ALL my earnings, overbooked me to the point of near physical exhaustion and a lot more bullcrap that was NOT worth my time or the money I made. Most if not all agency's always want "fees" for just about anything you can think of...photo, filing fees, all kinds of "fees" and still losing 20% to the agent for each gig I got. Anywhoot...A lot of this is the REASON why I am forming this non-profit entertainment agency is to help the "struggling artist" during their struggles and to assist the actors with auditions or help a band get gigs and so much more. SO my fundraiser will be called " Dollar" WHY that name you ask? Because the fundraiser will ask for each person to donate $1.00. I strongly believe this WILL happen and will benefit many and possibly leave a positive fingerprint on the world of entertainmnet. Thank you ALL for taking the time to read my blog, i appreciate you ALL! Much Love, Blessings and Peace to you ALL....
                                                                                                                                 Truly, Dennis Kelly

People are strange....

Good day friends and family I hope all is well with each of you as you read this. Well before I get to today's blog, I will update you all on the insurance claim I had to file recently due to a drunk driver smashing my vehicle. For about a week or better, the other driver's insurance company tried very hard to basically rip me off on the total loss of my vehicle. Well today was the day to meet with the adjuster, so before I met with him I made sure to pray and meditate very strongly. The Good news came within 30 minutes of the examination of my vehicle. The insurance company that was so much against me actually did a big turn around and gave me a check for more than I even paid for the vehicle years ago. So I feel that was a small victory in my favor. Other news in the world of Dennis, I have a NEW monthly guest co-host on the radio show that I host. She is absolutly GREAT for many reasons, not just a great radio voice but more importantly she is VERY knowledgeable on a very wide array of topics, issues, and Life in general. I am super excited to see where this goes, I feel something very good with this mix  of dynamics. SOON the radio show I host will be going back to the Internet as the uncensored version of the mainstream FM radio show. I shall still host the mainstream show but will put more EFFORT and focus on the Internet version of the weekly show. OK, enough with my rant and onto my blog for today. some of you WILL NOT understand the blog at all, Some will get critical, and then some will actually "get it" So here is my blog for November 18 &19/ 2013
                                                                                     INDIGO
Over the past year or so I personally have  had a lot of questions/comments from people who found my insights on the spiritual realm, and many other  "out of this world" topics and such including the indigo breed useful. My focus today is the "Indigo", this refers to what some believe about indigo children as well as adult indigos, and describes a certain personality, constitution, and perhaps even vibration. This blog is from my own opinions, thoughts, life expierences and a lot of other things that I won't go into until the time is right...all in due time. I finally came to the conclusion that perhaps I was an indigo. I personally realized this roughly 4 years ago and it answered a LOT of my questions about myself. Questions that I wanted answers to ever since I was a child.. "Why do I feel so different?"  "Why can't I fit in to normal society? Is there something wrong with me?" "Why do I have odd feelings and/or very high intuition etc.?" The List goes on and on...I am trying to keep this basic without confusing or making YOU think I'm nuts lol. Indigos seem to be very highly strung, energetic individuals, with intense emotions, love,  and a powerful drive to do something meaningful - whether or not they know what that something is, which in my case it goes both ways. Sometimes they can be lazy and passive, but even in those times there is a sort of intensity to their passivity. They don't do things by half measures easily and if they do they may feel tremendous guilt. Indigos can be somewhat resistant to authority, particularly anyone telling them what to do. The reason I personally feel f this is twofold: one, they are extremely intelligent in one way or another, revolutionary individuals who have their own idea on what is right or correct in any situation and resist doing anything that goes against that (whether an authority has told them to or not); secondly they seem to be naturally unable to work within a system of hierarchy and want both themselves and others to be seen as equals. In many texts and articles about an indigo person/child,  they seem to have high self esteem or very low self esteem no middle ground so to speak is mentioned. They are said to feel like Leaders  in their own ways. You could say that the high self esteem is what refuses to be placed on a rung below anyone; but themselves indigos do not like to place  above anyone, either. Other possible traits of indigos include a great sense of humor, a powerful sense of love and passion, even a feeling of not being "from here" in some way or another. Indigo is also a color that was known as the shade drops involving blue and violet. It's reported in which due to its regularity, also individuals with good and bad eyesight can be color blind in a sense, this usually occurs in the male indigo.Individual Indigo kids who're currently adults, probably acquired quite possibly just about the foremost difficult time in their lives for most, simply due to the fact of "not understanding why they are different", perhaps there were a few other people which they could recognize; or couple of grownups, teachers, among others etc. which understood all of these or even realized a way to satisfy their demands or perhaps support these children that are now adults. From my research and personal life I think that many Indigo children can frequently have a problem with contouring to methods as well as professions that our society believes is "typical" They are extremely sensitve (or even fragile), highly talented or talented; and are usually very metaphysically inclined. Many Indigo children seem to be smart over and above their years in many cases. Many Indigos may even a have religious cleverness or even certain abilities. Many people will explain them as being created as "outdated or old souls." They have been referred to as having an inner truth detector/ High Intuition. These adults and children are especially empathetic and thoughtful, often going out of their particular way to assist somebody that may be in harm or need help and guidance. Sadly many indigo children are misdiagnosed with ADHD or some other medical issue. Indigo children who're continuously prescribed medication (for these kinds of problems as ADHD) lose their expertise and possible gifts. Additional indigo youngsters who have no support or people who can not compensate for all of there needs or help them to grow or develop their abilities, might also become dull or even drop their ability. Many of these Indigo children are riduculed and also like additional talented youngsters, will certainly curb their cap-skills. Parents and also instructors are affected also with the difficultly that may come with these youngsters because  they are very enhanced as well as psychological difficulties, which can make them frustrated due to the common person's lack of knowledge and also familiarity with their actuality. Indigo kids need parents as well as adults in order to realize that they are Okay. Same goes for Indigo adults, many require very similar care -particularly for those in the workplace. They also require freedom to be innovative and unmanaged to an extent. They will evidently also have used around the duty associated with helping most of humankind within reaching the same amount of awareness they on their own seem to experience in life. Many Indigo adults will find they are a magnet for common people to come to them with their issues and/or guidance and advice. Now I am by NO means an expert on the Indigo phenomina, but this blog is a bit of what I do know personally as well as much research and life events I have and still deal with in many ways, I hope I didnt lose you because I know my blogs can be all over the place when reading them lol. I know  I have never discussed this openly nor do I like to. However there is a time for everything....right? Do YOU have any VALUE??

                                 VALUE WHO YOU ARE!

Hello Friends, My apology for not getting this blog issue up sooner. I have been super busy in the world of "Dennis" lol. This month has flew by just as the entire year seems to be doing. Today I would like to discuss something ALL of us need...SELF WORTH/VALUE....Yes that's right did you know you are worth something...YOU are priceless...no matter what your situation is. I often battle with this also...with my highly stressful life and health issues...sometimes I forget my own self-value. But NOT today my friends, lets think about who you are, including your dreams,we know all this will not be more important to someone else as YOU will be to you. Yes, you are the only one who will have a vested genuine interest in your life and in your dreams. Many times we want others to value us, we want them to consider us important to their lives and we want them to take an interest in our dreams. But, not everyone is going to be for you, so they won't care about you and your dreams. Therefore it is up to you to VALUE yourself, know who you are and ending the need for others to be for you always, to know you and to see you as important. Sometimes the only time someone will have a vested interest in you is when they are looking for their own gain. They are looking to use you or what you have to offer for their own purpose.
When you are not looking to use others and capitalize off their success you won't even recognize when others are doing it to you. Once you figure them out it may be too late. You may have invested a lot of time and emotion and such in them. This is why it is important to have a high value on yourself so that you have a deep strength to fall back on once you have figured out their intentions. Sadly, there are many individuals who USE people and VALUE things. They value their car, their job, their station in life, but yet they turn around and take people for granted. Because they are only in this life for themselves, they never see how their intentions and actions can affect those around them. They block themselves from having any feelings of empathy for others and they will leave a path of pain and destruction and such in their wake. And of course when they are unable to get anything more from you, when they are done with you, they won't think twice about moving on to the next person.
Encountering these individuals in your life can take a lot out of you emotionally. I call these types "emotional Vamps"  Even if your life may not have prepared you for those individuals, there is a way to counteract their fangs so to speak. Learn to VALUE yourself and don't wait on someone else to validate you. When you depend on others to validate you, you leave yourself open to their emotional state. If they are emotionally immature and you don't value yourself, it is easy for their neurosis to enter your mind and leave you feeling very insecure, hurt, and angry with yourself that you will beat up  yourself for giving them room to even be in your life. There are many spiritual folks, including myself, that will tell you that we attract a WIDE array of people good and bad. Although we are mirror images of each other that does not mean that a person's intent/actions should be acceptable in our lives. Many folks have emotional issues that originated in their childhood perhaps, that came as a result of  early caretakers. Then they were conditioned and programmed socially. Then they grow up to be Adults. There are many individuals who continue to be who they were programmed and conditioned to be in their childhood. They never took the time to take a closer look at their lives and at themselves to see where they need to grow. To make matters worse if they are still living in the same environment that they grew up in they may have never seen the need to change. It may never have crossed their minds. Everyone around them is the same way and the need to change and the pressure to conform will make it difficult for them to grow. They may not realize that for them to grow, they need to extricate themselves from the environment that is familiar. Many individuals are so afraid of walking away from the only people they have ever known that they decide to remain in that environment even if it is sucking the very life out of them. Remember, no one likes change and if they see you changing and growing they may feel threatened. Their way of life, their way of thinking is being challenged. You are forcing them to take a look at their life and at their unhappiness. They may have been living that way forever and they have become comfortable with what it is. Now here you come along talking about growing, expanding and moving up. Of course they are going to try and stop your growth. They are going to criticize you, they are going to try and cut you down. They are going to blame others who they may think is influencing you. Misery does love company. Becoming a leader, whether it's leading others or leading ourselves, we need to be strong enough to go against the crowd when/if needed. We need to be strong enough and believe in ourselves enough to stand alone. Not everyone is going to be for you, remember that. They may think that by you growing you are leaving them behind. That may be true, because if they are not growing you can't afford to let them slow or sway your growth. They may have been use to you being insecure, needy, clingy and unhappy and you may have needed them during that time. They may even think that is who you are, so your healing and growing threatens them because they no longer feel needed. BUT, you need to VALUE yourself and your growth even when others don't. Your emotional and mental health is very important. You are not going to be able to help everyone, and sometimes not even the ones you love. If they don't want the help or they may resent it coming from you, there is nothing you can do for them, except keep sending them love, prayers, and healing energies. Don't allow those that don't value you, to prevent you from reaching out and being there for those who do truly need and value what YOU have to offer this world. But make sure you are helping others because you want to help them and not because you are looking for them to value or validate you. Value and Love yourself first, strengthen your core self, it is then that you can be emotionally healthy and strong to be there to help others in need. I personally think many of us do not realize the importance of Loving ourselves and seeing the true high VALUE that each of us have. Take today to LOVE and VALUE yourself, for who YOU really are...love the good, bad, and the ugly...LOVE AND VALUE YOU! YOU are special and unique and valuable in YOUR own ways. Don't let this ignorant world bring you to the point of feeling worthless, because you are NOT by any means worthless...you are of great VALUE! Well my Friends I hope this blog today made some sense and perhaps helped someone out in this big world. I THANK YOU for stopping by and visiting my blog spot..my little corner here on the worldwide web. Please FEEL FREE to comment, follow, share, or just enjoy. I always Love YOUR feedback and comments. Bless each and everyone of YOU! LOVE and Big Blessings to YOU! Truly, Dennis Kelly
